Analysis on fractals
Abstract.
The physical relevance of fractal sets lies for example in the practical importance of porous media. In particular, one is interested in continuous transport on fractals which can be described by means of a "Laplacian". There are several approaches how to define such a differential operator on finitely ramified self-similar fractals - which are classical examples for non differentiable structures. After presenting the main ideas in this case, we explain how to overcome the lack of self-similarity by using a Lagrangian approach.
