New Results in Noncommutative Topology

Research group:
New Results in Noncommutative Topology

27 October - 8 November, 2011, Warsaw

This research group is focused on, though not restricted to, a verification of two new results obtained by its participants. The first result, due to Kenny de Commer, claims that all modules associated to free actions of compact quantum groups on unital C*-algebras via finite-dimensional representations are finitely generated projective. This technical result in functional analysis should allow one to upgrade the Baum-Hajac theorem on the equivalence of compact principal bundles and principal comodule algebras to compact quantum principal bundles. The second result, due to Makoto Yamashita, claims to generalize the celebrated Borsuk-Ulam theorem from classical spheres to the quantum spheres studied by Hong and Szymanski. Here main tools are equivariant KK-theory and continuous fields of C*-algebras.
