The Banach Center (BC), as a part of the Institute of Mathematics of the Polish Academy of Sciences, is open to all mathematicians from all countries to organize scientific meetings. While the Center is formally headed by the Director of the Institute, most of its scientific activities are supervised and coordinated by the Banach Center Scientific Secretary. Main forms of such activities are the following:
The Banach Center publishes the series of proceedings Banach Center Publications.
The scientific activities can take place in the Banach Center in Warsaw or in the Mathematical Conference Center in Bêdlewo near Poznañ.
From 1999 the Banach Center is a member of EPDI (the European Post-Doctoral Institute for Mathematical Sciences), created in 1995 by the Institut des Hautes Études Scientifiques (Bures-sur-Yvette, France), the Isaac Newton Institute for Mathematical Sciences (Cambridge, United Kingdom) and the Max-Planck-Institut für Mathematik (Bonn, Germany). The other members of EPDI are: the Max-Planck-Institut für Mathematik in den Naturwissenschaften (Leipzig, Germany), the Erwin Schrödinger Institut (Vienna, Austria), the Institut Mittag-Leffler (Djursholm, Sweden), the Centre de Recerca Matemàtica (Barcelona, Spain) and the Forschungsinstitut für Mathematik (Zürich, Switzerland).
Banach Center is also a member of the consortium International Mathematical Sciences Institutes (IMSI).
