How to apply

Candidates for the PhD studies at IM PAN should send:

  1. curriculum vitae,
  2. list of publications (if any),
  3. a letter of motivation, including description of preferred direction of PhD studies,
  4. a short description of research interests (up to one page),
  5. a copy of the MA diploma,
  6. an official transcript of university courses taken and grades received,
  7. an e-mail address for correspondence, if it is available
and
  1. arrange for two letters of recommendation to be sent directly to:

If the MA diploma is not available by the deadline but is expected to be granted before September 30, 2009, (e) may be replaced by a suitable document attesting to that fact.

For convenience and speed, it is requested that the above material should be send via e-mail as a plain text (ASCII file) or in one of the standard formats (PDF or PostScript) to the email address. Additionally, ''hard copies'' of (e), (f) and (h) should be sent by mail to:.

The deadline for application is May 29, 2009. The qualifying procedure will take place during June 2009 and it may include interviews with preselected candidates. The applicants will be notified about the results soon after the final decision.

In accordance with Polish law, the accepted students will be admitted to the program only after presenting (upon their arrival in Warsaw) the original copies of their diploma and the transcript.
