Title: Hilbert modular double octic Calabi-Yau 3-fold

Abstract: 
I will discuss Hilbert modularity of a double octic Calabi-Yau threefold with Hodge numbers of the middle
cohomology equal (1,1,1,1). Restriction of the Galois action to the absolute Galois group of a real quadratic 
field decomposes into the direct sum of the Galois action of a Hilbert modular form of weight [4,2] and its 
Galois conjugate. The proof follows from a careful analysis of the geometry of the octic arrangement.
