Gdansk-Krakow-Lodz-Warsaw Seminar in Singularity Theory

17.06.2019 - 19.06.2019 | Warsaw

The Gdansk-Krakow-Lodz-Warsaw Seminar in Singularity Theory has a very long tradition starting in the early 1990s. In these days, a group of mathematicians from Warsaw, including B. Jakubczyk, B. Ziemian, T. Mostowski, H. Zoladek, S. Janeczko and their students began to organize, in collaboration with S. Łojasiewicz and his group in Kraków, short meetings in order to exchange ideas in singularity theory and differential equations. The seminars took place both in Warsaw and Kraków and sometimes in the Zakopane mountains and lasted until 2001.

In 2004, a group of Polish young mathematicians, members of the RAAG network (European network of real algebraic geometry), resumed the organization of these seminars. During the years 2004-2015, a large number of meetings were organized, making it possible for many specialists from singularity theory, including scientists from Gdansk, Katowice, Kielce, Kraków, Lódź and Warsaw, as well as some invited guests from abroad, to meet 3 or 4 times per year. The organizers of the seminar 2004-2015 were J. Adamus, A. Nowel, A. Valette, G. Valette and M. Zając.

We are pleased to announce the resumption of this seminar. The next meeting will take place at IM PAN, in Warsaw, during the period 17-19 June 2019. The lectures will start on Monday 17 June at 13:45 (after registration and opening speech, 12:45 - 13:45 pm) and will end on Wednesday 19 June at 12:00 pm.
