G₂ group is the first exceptional simple Lie group. The first in the sense, that it has the lowest dimension in the series of exceptional groups. There exist several methods of describing this group. For the purpose of the seminar I choose the algebro-geometric version, since it shows the interesting and not obvious link between some five dimensional manifolds with contact structure and some other five dimensional manifods with the distribution of (2,3,5) type. Such a link is called "geometric duality".

Grupa G₂ to grupa Liego najmniejszego wymiaru z tak zwanej serii wyjątkowych prostych grup Liego; istnieje kilka różnych równoważnych sposobów, aby ją wprowadzić: w niniejszym seminarium wybieram sposób algebro-geometryczny, ponieważ pokazuje ciekawe i nieoczywiste powiązanie między pewnymi pięciowymiarowymi rozmaitościami wyposażonymi w strukturę kontaktową a innymi pięciowymiarowymi rozmaitościami wyposażonymi w dystrybucję typu (2,3,5). Takie powiązanie nazywamy "geometryczną dualnością".
