The talk will be a continuation of a previous talk by Yonatan Gutman. I will introduce the Lindenstrauss-Tsukamoto variational principle for the metric mean dimension and show how it is used to establish relation between metric mean dimension and certain almost lossless analog compression rates for subshifts of [0,1]Z. I will also present connections between various notions of mean dimension, including metric mean dimension, mean box dimension and mean Brin-Katok local entropy.
