A scholarship for a BSc or a MSc student in Algebraic or Enumerative Combinatorics!

I am very happy to announce that starting from October 2023, we will have two new post-docs in my research group at the Institute of Mathematics of the Polish Academy of Sciences in Kraków:

  • Hans Höngesberg
  • Victor Nador

Congratulations!

Moreover, if you are a BSc or a MSc student and you are interested in working within our group on a project related to algebraic or/and enumerative combinatorics, I am happy to announce that we are offering one scholarship for you!

Below you can find all the information in English, and here is the information in Polish.

The Institute of Mathematics of the Polish Academy of Sciences, Poland, announces an open call for 1 scholarship for a BSc student or a MSc student. The scholarship is offered within the project One-parameter deformations in symmetric functions theory, funded by the National Science Centre. The successful candidate will work with the research group in Kraków.

About the project: The project is devoted to the study of combinatorial aspects of various discrete models. The project covers a wide variety of topics, so depending on the interests of the successful candidate it is possible to choose problems that are related with such areas as: representation theory, probability theory, enumerative geometry, or matrix models.

Details:

  • the default period of the scholarship November 2023 - October 2024 (12 months)
  • the successful student will receive a scholarship of 1000PLN per month
  • at the starting date the applicant must be enrolled to an BSc program or a MSc program at a Polish university specializing in mathematics
  • the fellow must respect the NCN rules of funding
  • preferred candidates are those who are planning to prepare their Master thesis under the supervision of the PI (Maciej Dołęga) within their work on the project
  • programming skills (such as Python, C++, SageMath, Maple, etc.) will be considered as an advantage

To apply: please submit:

  • CV and the Transfer of Record
  • Description of scientific interests, scientific achievements, awards
  • A few words (but no more than one page) on the subject: why do I apply?
  • List of publications (if applicable)
  • Consent for the processing of personal data for the purpose of the recruitment process

All documents should be sent by email to the address mdolega@impan.pl by October 15, 2023 for full consideration.
