What is IMPACT?

IMPACT is an International Fellowship Programme at the Mathematical Institute of the Polish Academy of Sciences in Warsaw, Poland, offering, Marie-Curie-type individual fellowships co-financed by the European Union through the Marie Curie Action „Co-funding of regional, national and international programmes (COFUND)”.

What is the aim of IMPACT?

The direct principal aim of the project is to attract best qualified young researchers from all over the world and offer them top expertise in diverse fields of mathematical research so as to significantly develop their scientific potential and thus stimulate their successful careers.

Who can apply?

A researcher having a PhD in Mathematics awarded prior to the starting date of a fellowship and who satisfies the mobility criterion: in the 3 full years preceding the starting date of a fellowship an applicant must be a resident of a country other than Poland for at least 2 full years. We encourage women and researchers after a career break to apply.

How to apply?

Next call will be announced in December 2014.

What are the evaluation criteria?

All elligible proposals shall be evaluated by external experts selected and appointed by the Project Board. The criteria which are described in details in the Guide for Applicants comprise quality of an applicant, quality of the proposed scientific project and compatibility of the applicant with the host (IMPAN).

What is the timetable of the selection process?

The evaluation process will take around 4-6 weeks and by that time the applicants will be informed of the outcome of the evaluation and provided with the feedback from the experts. Within 6-8 weeks from the deadline the applicants shall be communicated final decision whether they are accepted, on the waiting list, or rejected. The fellowship can start at any time, but not later than 1st January of the following year, with a preference given to the beginning of the academic year (1st October).

How many Fellowships are offered?

In the 1st call we offered 2 fellowships. In total (with future calls in 2014 and 2015) we shall offer 5 fellowships of 24 months each. It is possible to apply for shorter fellowships (of length at least 12 months).
