The workshop (see https://www.impan.pl/en/sites/gmoreno/home/workshop-2016) is essentially based on the homonymous Marie Curie project “GEOGRAL” (GEOmetry of GRAssmannian Lagrangian), run by one of the organisers (G. Moreno).

 

The workshop consists of four three–hours mini–courses, run by world-leading experts in the areas, aimed at presenting, in the most elementary and self-contained way, the mathematical toolboxes necessary to study nonlinear PDEs from a geometric perspective. The focus will be on second- order PDEs, as they can be associated to hypersurfaces in Lagrangian Grassmannians. The mini- courses will be targeted to a non- specialistic audience, and can be attended also by people not interested in the geometry of PDEs. More specific topics will be discussed in the subsequent four one- hour seminars, focused on ongoing research rather than already obtained results.

 

The ultimate aim of the workshop is to bring together experts with the necessary complementary skills to laid down effective and realistic plans for attacking unsolved problems.
