Surfaces in Będlewo

15.04.2018 - 21.04.2018 | Będlewo

Surfaces in Będlewo

The proposed meeting is another one in a sequence of “Surfaces” conferences occurring every 2 years. The two most recent editions were organized at the University of Sao Paulo (2014) and Centre International de   Rencontres Mathématiques in Luminy, France (2016). This series aims at providing a platform for exchanging the  most recent advances in the area of Surface Dynamics and creating an ambient atmosphere for international collaborations leading to new projects, publications and future co-operations.

The study of dynamical systems on surfaces goes back to Poincaré and Birkhoff, with motivations from celestial mechanics. Nowadays a lot of progress in dynamics, also differentiable and complex, is achieved by studies on topology and geometry of invariant sets, in which the dynamical complexity of systems is often encoded. The topics of the meeting cover topological and dynamical properties of surfaces (or more generally, low dimensional spaces).

The lectures will start on Monday, April 16 and will finish in the Friday early afternoon, April 20.

The conference is organized by Institute of Mathematics of the Polish Academy of Sciences, AGH University of Science and Technology in Krakow and Gdansk University of Technology. In addition, it has been generously supported by DUN Programme 860/P-DUN/2018 of the Polish Ministry of Science and Higher Education.
