Accessibility Declaration of the Institute of Mathematics of the Polish Academy of Sciences

The Institute of Mathematics of the Polish Academy of Sciences undertakes to ensure the accessibility of its website in accordance with the provisions of the Act of 4 April 2019 on the digital accessibility of websites and mobile applications of public entities (Journal of Laws 2019, item 848). Information about the procedure

Everyone has the right to:

  1. submitting a request for access to unavailable information and a complaint about failure to provide it,

Architectural accessibility

The building of the Institute of Mathematics of the Polish Academy of Sciences is located in the centre of Warsaw. It is a tenement house with seven floors above ground and one underground floor, under conservation supervision. The entrance to the building (two doors open automatically) is located at 8 Śniadeckich Street, and is barrier-free (no stairs). The reception desk is located just behind the door on the left. Further on, opposite the door, there is a lift that can accommodate a person in a wheelchair. The lift provides access to every floor of the Institute. The lift is adapted for blind and visually impaired people with Braille control buttons. A corridor is available for wheelchair users on all floors. On the ground floor of the building, opposite the reception desk, there is a lift for disabled people, which allows access to the raised ground floor. Toilets for disabled people are located on the ground floor of the building, on the first and third floors. The library is located on the second floor, and the work rooms are located on the ground floor and first to sixth floors. The secretariat and administration rooms are located on the first floor. Guest rooms are mainly located on the fifth and sixth floors. Information about the layout of the rooms in the Institute building is provided on request by the receptionist on duty. In addition, a visual layout of each floor is available on floors one to six.

No guidance for blind and visually impaired people. Apart from the lift, there are no Braille markings, contrasting markings or large print markings in the building. There are no induction loops for people with hearing impairments. There is no sign language interpreter in the building, nor is it possible to use an online interpreter service. Assistance dogs and guide dogs are allowed in the building and all its rooms. Reception staff are available to help in any situation. On each floor, there are people appointed to monitor and supervise any evacuation and, if necessary, provide assistance in their areas.

There is no cloakroom at the Institute of Mathematics of the Polish Academy of Sciences. There are two parking spaces for disabled persons in front of the building.

The Wrocław Branch of the Institute of Mathematics of the Polish Academy of Sciences is located in a historic four-storey villa with an attic. The building is situated on a large plot of land and is under conservation supervision. The area is surrounded by a fence, partly metal and partly mesh, and access is via an entrance gate and a wicket gate.

The entrance to the IM PAN building in Wrocław has several steps. There is a doorbell at the entrance to the building. There is no lift in the building, so it is not accessible to wheelchair users. There is no toilet for people with physical disabilities in the building. People with disabilities can park on the premises without any problems. There are no guide systems for blind and visually impaired people. There are no Braille markings, contrasting markings or large print markings in the building. There are no induction loops for the hearing impaired. There is no sign language interpreter in the building and no possibility of using an online interpreter service. Assistance dogs and guide dogs are allowed in the building and all its rooms.

  1. Institute of Mathematics of the Polish Academy of Sciences, ul. św. Tomasza 30, 31-027 Kraków

The Krakow Branch of the Institute of Mathematics of the Polish Academy of Sciences is located on the penultimate floor of a four-storey building under conservation supervision, located in the Old Town of Krakow. The entrance to the building has no steps, and the floor can be reached by a lift, which is not wheelchair accessible.  The IM PAN section does not have a toilet for disabled people, nor are there any Braille markings, contrasting markings or large print. There are no induction loops for the hearing impaired, no sign language interpreter, and no online interpreting service available. Assistance dogs and guide dogs are allowed. There is no parking available under the building.

The Gdańsk Branch of the Institute of Mathematics of the Polish Academy of Sciences is located in a four-storey building under conservation supervision, situated on a small plot of land. The area is surrounded by a wooden fence, with access via a gate and a wicket.

The entrance to the IM PAN building in Sopot has a barrier for people with physical disabilities in the form of stairs. There is no ramp. There is a doorbell at the gate. There are no toilets for disabled people in the building. Disabled people can park on the premises without any problems. There are no guide systems for blind and visually impaired people. There are no Braille markings, contrasting markings or large print markings in the building. There are no induction loops for the hearing impaired. There is no sign language interpreter in the building and no possibility of using an online interpreter service. Assistance dogs and guide dogs are allowed in the building and all its rooms.

  1. Institute of Mathematics of the Polish Academy of Sciences, ul. Chopina 12, 87-100 Toruń

The Toruń Branch of the Institute of Mathematics of the Polish Academy of Sciences rents three rooms in the building of the Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science at Nicolaus Copernicus University. Persons with physical disabilities have access to a lift.

The Katowice Branch of the Institute of Mathematics of the Polish Academy of Sciences is located in one room in the building of the University of Silesia.

  1. Będlewo Palace Research and Conference Centre of the Institute of Mathematics of the Polish Academy of Sciences

The Research and Conference Centre of the Institute of Mathematics of the Polish Academy of Sciences is located in the village of Będlewo at 1 Parkowa Street.

Behind the entrance gate to the Centre, there is a palace and park complex under conservation supervision.

The centre consists of the following buildings:

  1. guardhouse – a building for physical security personnel,
  2. warehouse and garage building,
  3. The "Agronomówka" building consists of three storeys. The basement houses storage rooms and a boiler room. The ground floor and first floor, connected by a staircase, contain 16 rooms located on two storeys. A ramp leads to the main entrance, allowing wheelchair access. One of the rooms on the ground floor is a room for disabled people, with a widened door. The room has a bathroom with facilities for disabled people (lowered washbasin, grab rail by the washbasin and toilet, barrier-free shower cubicle with folding chair and grab rail).
  4. The palace consists of three floors and an attic. The basement houses a boiler room, catering facilities with a kitchen, a washing-up room, a cold store, storage rooms, a bar, staff facilities, public toilets and a recreation area. There are four staircases in the palace (two technical staircases connecting the ground floor with the basement, a third official staircase leading from the ground floor hall to the first floor with six guest rooms, and a fourth staircase connecting all floors, including the unused attic). The ground floor includes a hall, restaurant rooms, waiter facilities, a tablecloth storage room and a public toilet. A double-sided driveway leads to the main entrance of the palace, but additional guides are installed to allow wheelchair access.
  5. Building "B" – consists of four floors connected by a staircase. The basement houses a boiler room, training room, gym, sauna and public toilets. The ground floor features a conference and banquet hall with catering facilities (architectural barrier-free access to the hall). There are five guest rooms on the first and second floors.
  6. The complex of interconnected buildings "C", "D", "E", "N" and "Aula" houses 62 guest rooms, an auditorium, three conference and training rooms, a reception area, four offices, two waiter facilities, a clean and dirty linen storage room, staff facilities, 7 public toilets (including a disabled toilet next to the auditorium) and a self-service cloakroom in the "Auditorium". The basement of building "N" houses a boiler room, storage rooms, staff rooms and a recreation area. The rooms on the ground floor of buildings "C", "D" and "E" are wheelchair accessible (no thresholds). To access the ground floor of building "N", special ramps must be installed. Next to the "Auditorium" there is a lift for disabled people providing access to the conference room.

Information about the layout of rooms in the Centre's buildings is provided on request by the receptionist on duty.

Assistance dogs and guide dogs are allowed in the building and all its rooms. Reception and restaurant staff are available to help in any situation.

In front of the building there is a spacious car park with plenty of space for disabled people.
