It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of Professor Wiesław Żelazko, who died on November 6, 2025.
Prof. Żelazko was an eminent mathematician who worked at IMPAN for over 60 years (1957 - 2018).
He was the recipient of the Banach Prize and the Banach Medal, served as the President of the Polish Mathematical Society, and was a longtime editor of Studia Mathematica. He was also a member of the IMPAN Board of Directors.
The funeral ceremony will take place on November 18, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. in the Halpert Chapel at the Evangelical-Augsburg Cemetery in Warsaw, at 54/58 Młynarska Street.
