Abstract
We show that the symmetrized bidisc ${\mathbb G}_2= \{(\lambda_1+\lambda_2,\lambda_1\lambda_2):|\lambda_1|,|\lambda_2|<1\}\subset{\mathbb C}^2$ cannot be exhausted by domains biholomorphic to convex domains.
