Feliks Przytycki awarded the Prime Minister's Award in 2021 for 2020 for outstanding scientific achievements in the field of dynamical systems (mathematics)For outstanding contribution to the theory of dynamical systems, a field combining the ideas of biology, chemistry, physics and many branches of mathematics, and to ergodic theory. In particular, in the theory of smooth manifold endomorphisms, in the application of ergodic methods in the dynamics of dipheomorphisms, and in complex (holomorphic) dynamics.

Jonatan Gutman received the NCN Prize (established by the NCN Council in 2013, a distinction for young scientists up to 40 years of age for significant scientific achievements made as part of basic research conducted in Poland, documented by publications affiliated with the Polish research unit).

15 JUL 2021Dr. Jochen Glück (University of Passau) has been awarded Barbara and Jaroslav Zemánek Prize in 2021The Jaroslav and Barbara Zemánek Prize in functional analysis with emphasis on operator theory for 2021 is awarded to Jochen Glück (University of Passau, Germany) for his work on one-parameter operator semigroups and their various applications, along with several outstandig contributions to general operator theory. Jury emphasized his deep and elegant results regarding the existence of dilations of Banach space contractions and on the existence of spectral gaps for hyperbounded operators on Lp-spaces.

1 JUL 2021Research Group Program of Simons SemestersIn the framework of Simons Program in Banach Center, parallel to Semester's Program we are glad to announce Research Group Program. For the first round from August 2021 to August 2022 (preferably in the period August 2021 till April 2022) we plan up to five two-week events in Warsaw or Będlewo. The support will be up to 20.000 PLN plus remuneration for one foreign junior or senior leader for the period of two weeks.
